In the year 100 of our era the amphitheater of Nimes were concluded. The colony, was founded around the year 40 a. C. under the mandate of Tiberius Claudius Nero over the previously capital of the Arecomic volcas, keeping the name of Nemaussus in honor of the Gallic god to whom its sacred source (and origin of the city) was dedicated.
